Raw Food Diet Do's & Don'ts

Raw Food Diet Do's & Don'ts

The raw food diet can be a naturally healthy approach to food, but must be done correctly to ensure proper nutritional needs are being met. Eating from a wide variety of food sources and avoiding excess in isolated areas can help you to achieve better health through this plant-based diet.

Vegetables

Eat a wide selection of vegetables, and focus on the richly colored varieties (like tomatoes and spinach) for optimal nutrients.

Fruits

Eat fruits and berries as snacks, add them to smoothies, or toss them into your salads to add variety and flavor to your meals.

Nuts

Nuts can provide valuable nutrients--especially when they are soaked first--but should be eaten in moderation or they can cause constipation.

Seeds

Always soak your seeds before you eat them in order to unlock their enzyme potential and make them easier to digest.

Heating Food

Do not heat food above temperatures of 110 to 118 degrees Fahrenheit or many of the enzymes and nutrients in the food will be lost.

Dehydrating

Use a dehydrator with a thermostat to dry raw crackers and fruit leathers, which can add variety and appeal to the raw diet.
