Protein Foods for Kids

Getting enough protein is important for everyone, but especially for growing children. Depending on the weight, height, and age of your child, they will need between 16 and 60 grams of protein per day. If you have a picky eater, then you know how hard it is to ensure that they are getting enough protein. Luckily, there are some delicious and kid friendly foods that are high in protein. Here are the top five kid-approved proteins.

Milk

Fresh, cold milk is always a favorite with children, and it is high in protein as well. A cup of milk contains eight grams of protein.

Cheese

It's hard to go wrong with cheese, and since children typically love cheese it can be easy to make sure that they are getting enough protein. Cheese contains seven grams of protein per ounce.

Yogurt

Yogurt is high in protein and can make a great high protein snack for your child. Try to find a yogurt that is lower in sugar and that does not contain food coloring. Eight ounces of yogurt contains around 10 grams of protein.

Peanut Butter

Peanut butter is very high in protein and typically loved by children even when they are picky eaters. Peanuts can be extremely allergenic, so if your child seems to have an allergic reaction to peanut do not try to give it to them again. Two tablespoons of peanut butter contain eight grams of protein.

Eggs

Eggs are high in protein and children eat them in almost any form. Make sure they eat the yolk of the egg to gain the most benefit. A whole egg contains seven grams of protein.
