Suppliers of Raw Diets for Dogs

Suppliers of Raw Diets for Dogs

Raw diets have become popular as a healthier alternative to commercial dog food. Feeding a diet consisting of raw meat, bones and organs provides a more natural, highly digestible form of nutrition without added fillers, preservatives or plant-based products that dogs cannot digest and which may provoke allergies. Although you may be able to find some meat and organ sources at your local grocery stores, you may wish to seek out a raw-feeding supplier. Many sell meat that can be difficult to find in your grocery store, such as goat, rabbit and deer. Additionally, many ship their products throughout the contiguous 48 United States.

Hare Today

Hare Today is an online raw food supplier based out of a goat and rabbit farm in Springboro, Pennsylvania. The company has almost 200 items ranging from grass-fed beef and goat to turkey livers to whole rabbits and mice. The pork, beef, and sheep are sourced from local farms, and the poultry and fish are USDA-inspected products. They also have several ground meat, bone and organ mixes from various animal sources, which they process in their shop, along with dehydrated pet treats. Hare Today ships its products frozen in boxes containing dry ice to the 48 contiguous U.S. states, and also allows you to pick up your order at the farm with advance notice.

My Pet Carnivore

My Pet Carnivore, based in Indianapolis, Indiana, supplies meat, bones and organs from locally farmed, naturally raised animals. Some of the more exotic animals include bison, goose and muskrat. Like Hare Today, My Pet Carnivore sells ground mixes as well as whole chunks of meat, along with a selection of dehydrated treats and snacks. My Pet Carnivore ships its products frozen in insulated boxes to the 48 contiguous U.S. states, and also delivers to certain pick-up locations in Indiana, Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Wisconsin and Michigan on a monthly basis. The cost of delivery ranges between $10 and $15 depending on location.

Oma's Pride

Oma's Pride is a division of Miller Foods, a family-owned and operated business located in Avon, Connecticut. The supplier sells whole and ground versions of several types of animals ranging from beef and chicken to llama and kangaroo. Although the usefulness of fruit and vegetables in a dog's diet is controversial, Oma's Pride sells fruit and vegetable products. Oma's Pride also sells dehydrated raw products under the name O'Paws. Although Oma's Pride distributes products to retailers in the contiguous 48 U.S. states, they do not ship to individual customers.

Blue Ridge Beef

Blue Ridge Beef is a family-owned and operated raw pet food manufacturer that has several dealers primarily in the southeastern United States, although there are a few in New York, Pennsylvania and Ohio. The company uses locally raised beef and chicken to produce 2- and 5-lb "chubs," or rolls of ground meat mixes. Although they do sell raw bones and shank knuckles, they do not sell whole chunks of meat or dehydrated pet treats like Hare Today and My Pet Carnivore do. Blue Ridge Beef delivers small orders to select locations in the southeastern U.S. via Federal Express.
